Day 1: Munsyari (2290m) To Lilam (1852m)
Munsyari is on the arterial water body of the Goriganga which emerges from the Milam glacier system of the eastern flanks of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, fed also by the Kalabandar glacier and the Panchchuli from further east. From Munsyari, it is a fifteen kilometres trek to Lilam. The trail is a walk along the Gori River with Paton and Bhui villages on the left banks.
Day 2: LILAM to BOGUDIYAR (2450m)
The twelve kilometres trail passes through the thick forest of Uttes. The trail continues to steeply ascend through the gorge before reaching Bogudiyar, where the Poting rivulet meets Gori River. Camp overnight in tents.
Day 3: Bogudiyar To Railkot (3200m)
From Bogudiyar the trail follows the course of the Gori Ganga through a series of narrow gorges. Impressive waterfalls cascade down the cliff walls. The trail further crosses a series of open meadows until reaching the settlement of Railkot, which is situated above the river and one can visit ruins of old Railkot.
Day 4: Railkot To Milam Village (3434m)
The trail offers beautiful views of the Martoli peak soon after leaving Railkot. The trail crosses a bridge and reaches Burfu (3350m). Beyond Burfu, the trail runs along the left bank of the Gori river, offerinf a splendis vista of montain peaks including Longstaff Col., Nanda Devi, the northern wall of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary and the Har Deval. Camp overnight after reaching the village of Milam. The word Milam means ' man road'. It was home to a number of renowned Pundit explorers of olden times. It is also the last major settlement before Tibet.
Day 5: Milam Village to Milam Glacier (3872m) and back
The trail passes through high meadows dotted with sage, juniper and briar roses high above the moraine. At the head of the glacier, one can view a panorama of mountain peaks including Rishi Pahar (6992m), Hardeol (7151m) and Trisuli I (7074m). The Milam glacier is fed by waters from various glaciers from different valleys and is a picturesque sight. Return to Milam Village.
Day 6: Milam Village To Railkot
Trek back to Railkot along the same route. Camp overnight.
Day 7: Railkot To Bogudiyar
Trek back to Bogudiyar along the same route.
Day 8: Bogudiyar to Lilam
Trek back to Lilam along the same route.
Day 9: Lilam to Munsyari
Trek back to Munsyari along the same route. From Munsyari, there are regular buses to Almora from where you can catch a bus for onward destination.
