Dakpathar

45 Kms. from Dehradun, Yamuna
Hydel
Scheme, Dakpathar has emerged as a lovely tourist spot
in the western Doon Valley. it encompasses lush green
lawns and blooming gardens. The vast stretch on the
Yamuna river and the serrated Shivalik range add to the
grandeur of the place. The place is connected by regular
bus service from the Parade Ground and Highway Bus Stand
near Railway Station, Dehradun. A Tourist Bungalow
commands a beautiful view of the area with swimming pool
facilities.
Forest
Research Institute:
One of the finest institute in the world on the
science of foresty. FRI, as it is called usually, stands
on extensive ground with the Mussoorie ridge back group.
Kalsi :
About 5 Km from Dakpathar. An Ashoka pillar with
inscription in Devanagri is situated here. This Pillar
is preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India. An
Ashoka Rock Edict built in 450 B.C is also situated
here.
Lacchiwala:
A serene and blissful spot with a lot of natural
beauty amidst thick forest cover.
Robbers
Cave:
8kms. Also known as Bucha Pani, it is a beautiful
picnic spot. The cave is surrounded by hills where a
stream goes under ground only to reappear after a few
meters.
Sahastradhara :
14kms. A very picturesque place of exceptional
natural beauty, it is also known for its cold sulphur
spring. Special bath for tourists, have been provided
for those desiring privacy. |
