Tourist Deptt established a tourist rest house. of Uttar Pradesh in Haridwar on South end at Mayapur before DamKothi, later, it was named as Alaknanda Tourists Rest House. With the help of funds from central government, the ghat in front of the rest house was renovated.

It is the most attractive ghat of Haridwar. It is beautiful and favourite walking place of local residents.
