The Nahargarh Fort, Jaipur

   The Nahargarh fort, also known as the tiger fort, overlooks the city from a steep ridge to the north and is floodlit at night. The fort was built in 1734 by Jaisingh I and extended in 1868. Nahargarh is much smaller than Jaigarh and has only one palace, the Madhavendra Bhawan.

What is unique about both Jaigarh and Nahargarh is that unlike most of the hilltop forts of Rajasthan, they never faced any attack from either the Mughals or the armies of other Rajput kingdoms. They have no history of valour, no legends of bravery, no echoes of tragedy or romance. They are forts that never got such fame and got known only for their architectural beauty.
