Dilwara Temple

Situated 2 miles north of Mount Abu, these breathtakingly beautiful carved Jain Temples date back to the 11th and 13th centuries.

They are among the finest temples India has to offer, so intricately and delicately wrought that they look as though they had been carved out of ivory, rather than marble. They are an absolute must-see for any traveler in rajasthan, considered by many experts to be superior to the Taj Mahal.

The Jain temples at Dilwara near Mount Abu are considered to be a masterpiece of temple architecture. The Vimal-vashi temple was built in 1031 AD. It took around 1500 workers several years to build.

There are forty eight pillars, sixteen pillars have the images of female figures in dancing poses. The Rang mandap is a beautiful piece of architecture. The artistic roots are decorated with elephants and goddesses. Sculpture in stone, elaborate carvings , beautiful pillars, dome shaped roots give a majestic and surreal look to the temple.
