Cauvery has caused yet another mighty waterfall - Gaganachukki and Barachukki forming the Shivasamudra falls near Mandya (44 kms) hurling down a height of 106 metres. It is said that during the 16th century, Nanjaraja, the ruler of the region committed suicide along with his wife by jumping down the Gaganachukki. Karnataka power corporation has a circuit house here. These falls can be best viewed during monsoon, from July to mid November.

How to get there
Shivasamudra is 44 kms from Mandya town and can be approached by road from Mandya. Mandya town is connected by rail and road with almost all the important cities in the state.
