237km from Khajuraho by motorable road, in the heart of the Vindhya Mountains, a forest shelters pre-historic caves having cryptic inscriptions, the huge 14^th century Bandhavgarh Fort, and the rare White Tiger species. Indeed, it is the Bandhavgarh National Park, well worth a visit.

DAYS TEN & ELEVEN—KANHA

From Khajuraho, take a flight to Jabalpur. Transfer to hotel. Jeep drive 170km to Kanha National Park, spread over 940 sq. km. Since 1974, the sanctuary has been included in Project Tiger.

The 12-horned antelope is the pride of Kanha. The thick forests along with the grasslands also foster four-horned antelopes—a very rare species—apart from the Indian bison, deer, blue-bulls, sloth bear, Indian wild dog, panther and the tiger. Over 200 species of birds can be found here.
