Backwaters of Kerala
Places visited : Cochin - Periyar - Munnar - Kumarokam - Alleppey - Trivandrum - Kovalam
Duration: 09 Days.
Day 01 - Cochin
Arrival Cochin. Pick up from Airport and then you check in at hotel. Day
sightseeing at Fort Kochi. Visit the Mattancherry palace, Jewish synagogue,
Jew town, old spice markets, St. Francis church, Santa Cruz Basilica and
Chinese fishing nets. In the evening visit Kalari center to witness
Kalaripayattu - Ancient Kerala martial art.
Day 02 - Periyar
Morning drive to Periyar. Check in Hotel. Drive through rubber plantations
and forested mountains and finally reach Periyar National Park - One of the
best jungles in India to see wild elephants.
Day 03 - Periyar
Visit the National Park on boat over Periyar lake where several wild animals
congregate at different times.
Day 04 - Munnar
Morning drive to Munnar. Check in hotel. After a picturesque drive through
jungles, waterfalls and spice plantations, reach the high ranges of Munnar-
the highest and the most beautiful tea growing region in the world. Visit a
tea estate and factory after some leisure
Day 05 - Munnar
Visit Eravikkulam National Park to see the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Rest of
the day free to visit many beautiful spots around Munnar.
Day 06 - Alleppey
Morning drive to Alleppey. Check in houseboat. Sail through the backwater
canals and reach Kumarakom- an island with a beautiful bird-sanctuary and
extremely serene atmosphere.
Day 07 - Trivandrum
Disembark from houseboat. Drive to Trivandrum. Check in hotel at Kovalam.
Day free.
Day 08 - Kovalam
At Kovalam.
Day 09 - Kovalam
Drive to Trivandrum airport for onward journey.
